Last week I blogged about Pespi Co "leveling the playing field" in the European cola wars. Well, this week it is the microprocessor industry in the U.S.
Advance Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) is suing Intel because they believe Intel is behaving "like a cocaine dealer who gets customers hooked on its financial incentives". What is Intel guilty of? Building exclusivity into their customer relationships. Of course it has nothing to do with the fact that AMD lost over $17 million in the first quarter of this year, and nothing to do with the relative superiority of the Intel product.
Intel is a great example of a company trying to practice creative destruction - constantly trying to make their previous products obsolete. So if competitiors can't stand the heat then perhaps its time for them to "get out of the kitchen".
