This is neat. The BBC has installed a GPS transponder in an ordinary cargo container box and will follow it around the world for the next year. The project is meant to highlight the explosion in global trade that has fueled so much economic growth since the 1950s and done so much to raise living standards. Anyway, the box is on its way—bound for China full of delicious Scots Whisky. It will be interesting to check in from time to time to see where it is going next, and, perhaps more importantly, what it is carrying.
